Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to the Milford Proving Grounds in Milford, MI and/or the Warren Tech Center in Warren, MI three times per week, at minimum.
The Team
Our growing Embedded Platform Infrastructure Product team is seeking for a passionate and talented Program Manager, who will be a key interface with Product Management Team and Engineering Team.
The Role:
The Program Manager (PgM) is a key role to ensure that the Product Plan and Roadmap aligns with General Motor’s strategic themes and has an execution plan to meet program timing. The PgM will be a decisive leader who is comfortable negotiating with key stakeholders and communicating with customers. Their passion for their products and ability to listen and learn will guide them and others through changing scope and setbacks. The PgM is responsible for leading and working with others to define and execute the building of desirable, feasible, viable, and sustainable products that meet our customer needs over the product-market lifecycle. The Program Manager has a customer centric mindset, makes plans, leads by example, and utilizes design thinking principles and practices to guide their decision making. The PgM is responsible for maintaining the product alignment with the Portfolio, Lean Budgets, and Guardrails.
This position will draw upon a blend of technical skills and program management skills. It can be an excellent opportunity to leverage your technical software skills while applying program management skills using SAFe process and tools.
What you'll do:
- Develop embedded platform infrastructure software execution roadmap plan to meet vehicle GVDP (Global Vehicle Development Plan) milestones
- Interface with program teams to generate the application specific infrastructure content List
- Work with product execution teams to plan and validate changes
- Work with Systems Engineering Team to decompose changes into functionality and associated acceptance criteria.
- Gather program architecture requirements for the requested new functionalities
- Coordinate with Hardware and System Engineering teams to ensure requirements are completely understood and immediately communicate concerns/roadblocks/risks
- Support Infrastructure CG test planning
- End to end product management by enabling requirement, software development and test traceability
- Manage implementation plan for Epics from Embedded Platform Product Team
- Follow Software & Service Lean Portfolio Management and Value Stream process
- Align cross-functional business and technical teams to help ensure alignment of goals and to help resolve conflicting priorities
- Monitor project progress and consolidate status reports
- Develop tracking scorecards and metrics to illustrate status and ownership
- Gain an understanding of Embedded Platform product to be able to assist in identification of issues and risks
- Prepare presentations for various levels of leadership
Key Deliverables:
- Quantify and maintain product timing plan aligned with Enterprise and vehicle program feature rollout plan
- Prepare and present product status report at Product Readiness Review every 10 weeks
- Resource estimation and allocation for product teams
- Feature decomposition and dependency analysis
- Support Product Team Meetings & Program Meetings
- Support product roadmap study requests and hot issue resolutions

- BSE, BS in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Computer Science, Math, Chemistry, Metallurgical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physics, Materials Engineering
- 5+ years of experience in Embedded Controls, Software Architecture and Systems Engineering
- Understanding of automotive mechanical systems, electrical and electronic components, mechatronic
