About the role

This is a unique opportunity for a systematic, creative, and experienced individual to make a big impact on Gartner’s client experience. We are looking for a results-driven, self-motivated problem solver who can shape data management at Gartner. As a Senior Data Engineer, you will help operate our data platform and identify opportunities to innovate and drive value.

What you will do:

• Develop, troubleshoot, and maintain SQL code independently for intermediate to complex procedures in Oracle and Postgres environments
• Assist with migration from Oracle to Postgres
• Assist in the development, maintenance, and support of backend databases
• Troubleshoot data issues, assist with ad-hoc requests
• Collaborate with microservices teams to drive data design and integration
• Create self-service data applications using frameworks such as Streamlit so common requests do not need manual intervention
• Automate repeatable tasks using Python

What you will need:

• Bachelor’s Degree in math, statistics, engineering, or a related field required
• 5+ years of Information Technology experience
• Proficiency in SQL to perform data loads, data extracts and conversion
• Ability to optimize SQL queries for performance by understanding the data model and using the right tables effectively
• Some experience with Python
• Experience with Agile scrum
• Ability to multi-task, work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to influence and sell ideas to colleagues, supervisor and management
• Ability and willingness to continue to expand knowledge and experience
