The Commercial Products and Infrastructure (CPI) org is responsible for driving Microsoft cloud & AI capacity, margin excellence and resource allocation rigor across Microsoft’s portfolio. Within CPI, the Resource Investment Strategy finance team is an exciting and fast-evolving team that partners deeply with engineering leaders to ensure $20B+ resources across ~100K engineering FTEs are continuously aligned to strategic engineering priorities.
We currently have an opening for a highly motivated Senior Finance Manager – Engineering R&D to join the Experiences + Devices (E+D) Engineering finance team. This Senior Finance Manager – Engineering R&D role covers a wide range of responsibilities which includes various modeling and business analysis, partnering with engineering leaders on resource allocation decisions, and creation and ownership of efficient financial processes. The Senior Finance Manager – Engineering R&D position requires a motivated and agile system thinker who can demonstrate intellectual curiosity and navigate ambiguity and complexity to be the trusted finance advisor to our engineering leaders and drive success for our business partners.
This Senior Finance Manager – Engineering R&D role enables you to develop a CFO mindset and influence leadership to drive expense management and resource allocation decisions – continuously aligning investments and costs with a prioritized engineering product roadmap and be part of the highly driven team with an emphasis on fun!
Responsibilities
- Business Health: Drive process excellence while partnering across Engineering to continuously assess portfolio health by reviewing key drivers to identify opportunities, risks, and tradeoffs. Ensure resources and investments are constantly aligned with business strategy, product engineering roadmaps, and company priorities.
- Resource Analysis: builds a cohesive story by incorporating business insights through resource allocation, workforce planning as well as understanding the connection between resource allocation with the overall financial performance. Analyzes results to understand performance against plan/forecast, monitors trends and key levers to support various rhythm of the business and finance.
- Engineering Partnership: Provide strategic leadership to Engineering leaders to drive operating leverage through resource allocation and investment optimization by giving visibility to the current resource landscape, analyzing macro-level results, and applying systems thinking to identify and recommend levers to influence decision-making.

Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting , Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 4+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, operations accounting, or related field
- OR Master's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Economics, Data Science or related field AND 2+ years experience in financial analysis, accounting, controllership or finance, operations accounting, or related field
- OR equivalent experience
- 1+ year(s) experience in a matrix-based organization
Financial Analysis IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $96,500 - $188,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $123,500 - $206,400 per year.
