Job Description
OED is the central team that supports all Business Unit Design and Development teams, and other organizations including Sales, Marketing, Business Operations, Foundry Operations, and Test. OED provides a platform for managing all process technology and PDK development for both Internal and External Foundry processes. This strong and highly qualified team (mostly MS/PhD) adds strength in developing Process Technology, Test Technology, Foundry Operations, and Yield management. Our world class contributions lead to aggressive NPI strategies and continuous cost and gross margin improvements.
This position can be hands-on technical / individual contributor or a leader (Management) with strong device/physics/process technology background to Lead a small team of device, process technology experts supporting leading edge front-end technologies manufactured within Renesas Japan fabs as well as external foundries.
Responsibilities:
- Device technology responsibilities include developing process specifications, maintaining the compliance matrix, performing device characterization, defining safe operating limits, and resolving escalations related to tape-out and ramp process technology blockers."
- Assess business related items including wafer cost modeling and optimization, new investment ROI, competitive benchmark, long term manufacturing strategy and interface into business units, key customers and suppliers.
- Lead assigned process definition, documentation, management, and continuous improvement to align with key stakeholders’ needs and requirements
- Act as a technical interface between OED & key customers, keeping them up to date on development activities within Renesas and at foundry partners. Strong sense of ownership & understanding of project schedule & key milestone will be required.
- Expert interface among OED Engineering teams (including Process Technology, PDK Development, Quality) and Product Groups and Sales/Marketing to ensure smooth NPI to Ramp execution
- Execute on key technology roadmaps and designs from U.S. R&D sites.
- Drive programs from initiation through delivery, interfacing with all key stakeholders across functions on technical matters.
- Collaborate with internal and external Manufacturing organizations to ensure required quality and on-time deliver.
- Define, develop, and execute plans of record, including schedules, deliverables, and risks
- Exercise creativity to innovate new processes and procedures to achieve established objectives
- Escalate issues in a timely manner and propose and collaborate on corrective actions
Qualifications
- Education required: Master’s or PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with a focus on Solid-State-Electronics, semiconductor & device physics
- 15-20 years’ experience working in semiconductor Engineering (preferred: team management skills)
- Hands on experience defining, driving execution & delivering technology metric in CMOS, BCD, Mixed-Signal technology platforms (at Fabless or at Foundry)
- Demonstrated leadership roles in device physics, modeling, reliability, understanding of semiconductor ICs, design flows, EDA tools, device and process technology
- Track record of execution for process tech, PDK/CAD engineering KPIs
- Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders in a collaborative manner and appropriate level of tension
- Change champion able to identify, implement and execute new processes to continuously improve and challenge organizations
- High degree of professionalism to represent our division and Renesas in customer meetings and other formal reviews / negotiations
- Motivated, committed and career driven to learn new techniques and emerging technologies
- Possess strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and detailed information to multiple individuals / audiences with differing knowledge levels.
- Strong negotiation and powers of influence is required
