Position Purpose

Under frequent supervision, gain a broad understanding of the RLI business through a real-world experience and on-the-job training.

As a QA Intern, you will work alongside our experienced QA engineers to ensure that our software products meet the highest quality standards.

You will assist in testing applications, identifying bugs, and contributing to the improvement of testing processes.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

• Complete project-based assignments as assigned.

• Work closely with experienced professionals, colleagues, and fellow interns to gain knowledge and develop team-building skills.

• Attend planned education and social activities in order to gain an understanding of the RLI business as well as network.

• Assist in Software Testing

• Identify, document, and track defects in the software using bug-tracking tools (e.g., ADO, JIRA etc).

• Collaborate with the QA team in writing and maintaining automated tests.

• Learn to use automation tools (e.g., Selenium, TestNG, Katalon Studio or other industry tools) to automate repetitive testing tasks.

• Participate in daily standups and sprint meetings to understand project requirements.

• Work with cross-functional teams (development, product, and business teams) to understand application requirements and use cases.

Education & Experience

• Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, or a related field.

Knowledge, Skills, & Competencies

• Ability to analyze and resolve basic issues.

• Ability to clearly and effectively communicate with others.

• Knowledge of version control systems (e.g., Git).

• Familiarity with database concepts and basic SQL queries.

• Understanding of Agile or Scrum methodologies.

• Experience with mobile and web application testing is a plus.

Internship Pay Rates

When participating in an internship at RLI, salary is determined by the group that is being supported as well as relevant educational factors.

• General Internship: $20/hour

• IT & Underwriting: $22/hour

• Legal: $25/hour
