Tenneco is looking for a qualified and resourceful Human Resources Generalist to support our department in ensuring smooth and efficient business operations. Our HR Team is focused on what people need and how to provide it. This position is for a people person who wants to work in the challenging and exciting world of HR. This generalist will have both administrative and strategic responsibilities and will help with important functions such as staffing, training and development, and compensation and benefits. RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide assistance and support to the HR Department
- Administers disability programs.
- Recruits for hourly and salary positions within the plant.
- Plan and conduct new employee orientation.
- New hire processing of pre-employment screening and records.
- Prepares and maintains reports to include headcount, attendance reports, and employee lists.
- Coordinate employee events.
- Prepare counseling forms for attendance.
- Oversee hourly and salary performance appraisal system.
- Prepare data for budget of human resources operations.
- Administer shoe and safety glass program.
- Assist in preparation for monthly Value Stream meetings.
- Prepares separation notices and related documentation and conducts exit interviews to determine reasons behind separations.
- May be given certain authority within job scope by Manager
- Each employee has the authority to initiate action to prevent a violation of the Tenneco Integrity Policy.
- All employees will abide by the plant’s safety policy, comply with the legal and other requirements and operational controls established, work toward achieving established objectives and targets, and conform to procedures consistent with the ISO 14001 standard. An employee should report, and if necessary stop, any activity that does not conform to the policy or may injure himself/herself.
- Capable of providing support as requested by supervisor.
EDUCATION: Bachelors Degree or equivalent years experience. PHR/SPHR certification preferred.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
- Experience with the use of computers including the Microsoft suite mandatory.
- Strong analytical aptitude needed.
- Must be familiar with employment law and application of legal principles.
