Position Summary:
Power Systems is the Rolls-Royce business which provides world-class power solutions and complete life-cycle support under our product and solution brand mtu. Through digitalization and electrification, we strive to develop drive and power generation solutions that provide answers to the challenges posed by the rapidly growing societal demands for energy and mobility.
We deliver and service comprehensive, powerful and reliable systems, based on both gas and diesel engines, as well as electrified hybrid systems. These technologically advanced solutions serve our customers in the marine and infrastructure sectors worldwide.
What you’ll be doing:
Operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) HELLER machining centers with Siemens 840 D Controllers according to instructions, routings, control plans, production requirements, plans and diagrams
Study machining instructions, routings, control plans, job orders, and blueprints to determine dimensional and finish specifications, sequences of operations, complex machine setups, and tooling requirements
Set up, adjust, and operate all of the basic machine tools and many specialized or advanced variation tools to perform precision machining operations
Check precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, fixed and telescoping gauges, templates and fixtures, and adjust according to quality control plans
Perform fine-tuning of tools/equipment through sample cuts and optimize the CNC program in regard to tool durability, preventing the collision of tools/equipment, program sequencing
Stop machines to remove finished work pieces, or to change tooling, setup, or work piece placement, according to required machining sequences
Measure dimensions of finished work pieces to ensure conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments
Position and align components for assembly, manually or using hoists, and verify parts clearances
Fasten and install piping, fixtures, or wiring and electrical components to form assemblies or subassemblies
Read and interpret assembly blueprints and specifications manuals, and plan assembly or building operations
Assemble systems of gears by aligning and meshing gears in gearboxes
Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
Perform special projects as may be required and maintain on the job flexibility by providing support in assembly and other production related areas
Promote a compliance culture in area of responsibility and live the letter and the spirit of the Rolls-Royce Code of Conduct
Preferred Qualifications:
Basic oral and written communication skills
Basic reading, writing and math skills
Basic PC knowledge and the ability to efficiently operate computer terminals and scanning devices
Ability to learn how to interpret control plans, blueprints, build documents, schematic drawings, layouts, documents regarding engine assembly, and testing and quality requirements (Quality Alerts, Second Checks, etc.)
Ability to learn basic troubleshooting and problem solving skills
Interest in working in a manufacturing environment during apprenticeship period
Ability to learn basic knowledge of OSHA safety requirements and the ability to use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or standards

Work Environment:
Daily work is performed in a durable goods manufacturing environment
The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
