Join DaVita Integrated Kidney Care (IKC) as a Senior Health Information Management Specialist.

It takes a village to care for our patients, and as a Sr. Health Information Management Specialist, you’ll be at the heart of that Village. The Sr. Specialist, Health Information Management (“HIM”) assists the Manager, HIM in disseminating work, training new Specialists, and assembling daily reporting. This role will still perform the duties of the Specialist (reduced % of time). You will serve as the subject matter expert and primary contact for all medical record needs, providing timely and proactive retrieval support to Patient Care Teams across DaVita IKC. In this fast-paced, high-volume environment, you will play a critical role in ensuring our clinicians have the data they need to deliver the highest quality care.

 

Location:

  • This role supports Patient Care Teams across all DaVita IKC.

  • This is a remote opportunity.

Position Details:

  • Schedule: Full-Time, Monday–Friday schedule.

  • Focus: High-volume electronic tracking and medical record retrieval.

  • Privacy: Performs release of PHI (Protected Health Information) in strict accordance with Government/Payor Audit and HIPAA regulations.

Responsibilities:

  • Respond to and process requests for medical record retrieval in a timely manner in accordance with medical records and information policies, practices, and regulations (i.e. State and Federal HIPAA Regulations).  

  • Assigns work to the Specialists and oversees work completion. 

  • Interfaces with Medical Records Vendor and reports areas for improvement enhancing the ongoing project. 

  • Trains the Specialists 

  • Review records for completeness, accuracy, and compliance with regulations. Also confirm successful upload of records into EMR. 

  • Participate in special projects outside of the day-to-day responsibilities 

  • Compiles daily reports. 

  • Make outbound calls to medical offices, specialists, and hospitals to procure medical record documentation 

  • Other duties as assigned 

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required.

  • Working knowledge of Privacy & HIPAA Regulations required.

  • Strong organizational skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook).

  • Strong interpersonal skills with a commitment to professional and courteous service.

  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in all aspects of the role.

  • Previous experience in medical records highly preferred

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in medical records highly preferred.

  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and computer literacy.

  • Experience in a fast-paced, high-volume healthcare or administrative environment.

  • Knowledge of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems.
