SENIOR CNC PROGRAMMER
REPORTS TO: Operations Manager, Machining Department
LOCATION: DEMGY Pacific, LLC | Tacoma, WA, USA
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Non-Exempt
SALARY: $42.00 - $45.00 per hour, based on commensurate experience and knowledge
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: 5+ years as a Level 3 CNC Machinist and CNC Programmer
JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a highly skilled SENIOR CNC PROGRAMMER to join our precision metals and plastics machine shop. The Senior CNC Programmer plays a crucial role in planning logical sequences of operations, developing CNC programs, and creating bulletproof documentation, tooling, and fixture designs.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in CNC machining and programming, with a strong understanding of CAD/CAM software, G-code development, and multi-axis machining. This role requires expertise in optimizing machining processes, ensuring high-quality production, and collaborating with engineers and machinists to enhance efficiency.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Responsibilities extend to utilizing shop equipment for on-time task delivery, meeting both external and internal customer expectations Develop and optimize CNC programs for milling and turning operations using CAD/CAM software.
- Read and interpret blueprints, dimensional data, and surface locations.
- Determine the sequence of shaping operations and select appropriate tooling and inserts.
- Validate programs using Mastercam and Vericut software.
- Write or modify existing CNC programs and store them electronically.
- Maintaining a clean workspace, discerning quality in production materials, and ensuring the retrieval and maintenance of fixtures and tooling.
- Interpret engineering drawings and blueprints to determine machining methods.
- Troubleshoot and resolve machining issues to maintain productivity.
- Collaborate with machinists and engineers to improve manufacturing processes.
- Maintain documentation for CNC programs, tooling, and machine setups.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations and quality standards.
- Train and mentor junior machinists and programmers.
- Interpreting complex engineering drawings to plan manufacturing operation sequences.
- Designing robust processes complying with company goals for efficiency and quality.
- Completing plans, programs, setups, and production runs within estimated time.
- Documenting processes to company standards.
- Create drawings, models, programs and work instructions to successfully create parts.
- Demonstrating thorough knowledge of fixture and work holding design, cutting tool selection, and work holding methods.
- Troubleshooting technical problems at the machine.
- Estimating job and task completion time accurately.
- Applying shop math skills, including speeds and feed formulas, complex trigonometry, and blueprint calculations.
- Demonstrating thorough knowledge and hands-on skills of CAD and CAM systems.
- Staying current with the latest industry advances.
