  2. Applicant must be a current sophomore or junior at the time of application. Current seniors (i.e. students who are seniors at the time of application) are NOT eligible to participate in the Welch Summer Scholar Program.

Application Instructions

  1. Complete your application following the instructions on the Welch Summer Scholars Website.
  2. Send an official High school transcript.  We prefer to receive transcripts directly from your school's registrar's office.  These should be sent in PDF format via email to at wssp@cm.utexas.edu.  If your registrar will not send transcripts via email, a student copy will be accepted.
  3. Arrange for two letters of recommendation to be uploaded into the Interfolio application system. Letter writers can upload their letters until March 23. None will be accepted after that date.
  4. Standardized test scores (PSAT, SAT or ACT)
If your transcript does not contain your standardized test scores, you may submit either a scanned copy of a paper score report in PDF format (preferred) or screen shots of your scores from the College Board website.  These should also be sent to wssp@cm.utexas.edu.  We prefer SAT scores, however if you have not yet taken the SATs then PSAT scores will be accepted.  If you have taken both, please send only your SAT scores; do not send both.  If you have also taken the ACT, please include those scores as well.
