A Day in the Life

Medtronic's Cardiac Ablation Solutions division is searching for a motivated Senior Program Manager to join our growing product development team. The Senior Program Manager – Business Process & Standardization is a senior individual contributor role within the PMO, accountable for establishing, improving, and embedding standard work and clearly defined business processes across the portfolio. This role partners closely with PMs, functional leaders, and governance forums to reduce variability, increase execution clarity, and enable scalable delivery. Unlike traditional program management roles focused primarily on single‑program execution, this role is system focused owning how work gets done, not just whether it gets done.

Cardiac Ablation Solutions is developing next generation medical technologies that treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms. Our technologies save lives and improve the quality of living for millions of patients across the world by advancing innovation for the diagnosis and ablation of cardiac arrhythmias and enabling clinicians to perform procedures with superior outcomes.

Location for the role is in Mounds View, MN or Parkmore. Ireland.

         

         

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned: 

  • Lead the definition, documentation, and implementation of standard PMO business processes (e.g., intake, opportunity assessment, contracting, planning, governance, execution, and closeout). 
  • Translate ambiguous or inconsistent ways of working into clear, practical standard work, including process flows, RACI, templates, and decision rights. 
  • Ensure processes are appropriately scaled for program size, risk, and complexity. 
  • Partner with stakeholders to balance consistency with flexibility, enabling teams to execute efficiently without overbureaucratization. 
  • Own and maintain PMO templates, playbooks, and guidance materials; support the creation of a centralized PMO knowledge hub. 
  • Coach and enable Program Managers and functional partners on how to apply standard work effectively in real programs. 
  • Support onboarding of new PMs by clarifying expectations, processes, and tools. 
  • Partner with PMO leadership to mature portfolio management capabilities over time. 
  • Work closely with R&D, Finance, Quality, Operations, and functional leaders to align PMO processes with broader enterprise requirements. 
  • Act as a trusted thought partner to PMO leadership on operating model, role clarity, and capability maturity. 

Must Have: Minimum Requirements- To be considered for this role, please ensure the minimum requirements are evident in your applicant profile:

  • Bachelor’s degree required 
  • 7+ years of experience in new product development program/project management, PMO, or business process improvement roles. 
  • Demonstrated experience defining, implementing, and sustaining standard work across multiple teams or programs. 
  • Strong ability to operate in ambiguous environments and turn ambiguity into clarity. 
  • Proven stakeholder influence skills without direct authority.
