The Team

The Black & Veatch Federal Business is grounded in history and engineering the future. Typical client base includes Department of Defense (DoD), United States Army Corp of Engineers (USACE), United States Air Force (NAVFAC), and many private companies in the Federal arena where Black & Veatch frequently teams for project execution in joint venture (JV) roles or utilizes a sub/prime contracting arrangement. 

The Opportunity

The Federal Project Manager will function in a project leadership capacity on Department of Defense contracts. In this role you will:

  • Manage multiple small to medium sized Services projects
  • Manage multiple Federal clients and/or projects, with specialized emphasis for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA)
  • Support aspects of Business Development Obtaining new/repeat business on medium size projects; supports contract negotiations with client peers
  • Reduce risk to B&V by managing profit on fixed price engineering projects, managing risk implementing new technology or working with new clients
  • Act as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individuals comprising this team may vary by project.

 

*This position supports Black & Veatch project work with the U.S. Federal Government. As a result, U.S. citizenship is a requirement.

Preferred Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have prior experience with facilities and infrastructure projects for DOD, Air Force, and/or other Federal agencies/entities such as USACE, including developing qualifications packages, implementing UFC and FC requirements into DoD projects, understanding and implementing Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs), and experience with full design projects (design-bid-build).  We are looking for candidates with:

  • 10+ years’ experience working with A/E design teams associated with the U.S. Department of Defense
  • Experience with full project lifecycle from proposal to design to construction
  • Professional Engineer (PE) License or Registered Architect (RA)
  • Experience with AFCEC, NAVFAC and/or USACE
  • Experience with the Missile
