The base salary range for a Sr Group Underwriting Reporting Analyst is $62,000 to  $100,000. Actual salaries will vary by geographic location and are based on factors such as candidate’s qualifications, experience, skills, competencies, and company tenure and equity. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible for an annual incentive plan based on company performance and individual performance.

 

Sr Group Underwriting Reporting Analyst Overview

  • Supports the Underwriting team by creating and analyzing reports
  • The Sr Group Underwriting Analyst conducts risk assessment and selection for Life, Disability, and Supplemental products.
  • Produces rates for new groups using company proposal system.
  • Prepares formal proposals and renewals using word processing, spreadsheet tools, and software as applicable.
  • Works on special product, rating or operational projects as required.

 

Essential Duties:

Reporting (65% of time)

  • Responsible for providing complex analytics supporting initiatives focused on driving both top and bottom-line growth. 
  • Produces comprehensive, periodic reports covering the key sources of variance between actual and planned results for SLD products.
  • Understands and effectively communicates the implications of these findings to underwriting managers. 
  • Leads and has ultimate ownership of report functionality, enhancements, new requests, potential issues, and prioritization.
  • Provides executive-level reporting on key accounts and quote activity and provides Partners and Agency Executives with predictive modeling reports.
  • Performs complex reporting and summarizes findings on a scheduled and ad hoc basis
  • Gathers, analyzes, and validates data to develop and/or modify reports
  • Participates in cross-functional projects
  • Finds, develops, and implements improvements

Production (25% of time)

  • Assesses risk and produces rates for new groups with advanced levels of authority and limited management oversight.
  • Completes annual renewals for all products and performs related maintenance tasks.

Other Duties as Assigned (10% of time)

 

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Advanced knowledge of group insurance and supplemental products.
  • Advanced understanding of Underwriting principles and rating methodology.
  • Demonstrated capability to apply experience rating formulas for all products.
  • Ability to apply experience rating modifications as appropriate and logically justify modifications.
  • Advanced MS Office skill including Excel pivot tables, VLOOKUP, charts & graphs, etc.
  • Advanced math and analytical skills.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to address a wide rang
