SCOPE: As a Designer at E-ONE, you will be working with Sales teams to understand and translate customer requirements into the design of components and systems that are safe, efficient and reliable. During the design phase you will be part of a design team that will design, review and release design packages consisting of 3D models, part drawings, and Bills of Materials needed for the manufacturing of a fire truck. During the production phase, you will be working with Manufacturing and Quality to help ensure the truck meets customer requirements and delivery expectations. Your product design expertise will also be needed to support customers who may need support in the field. The Designer at E-ONE is relied upon by other employees and customers for technical guidance and support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
• Creation or changing mechanical components and systems used on Fire Apparatus.
• Creation of 3D models and drawings to be used to manufacture components.
• Delivery of producible designs to Manufacturing, applying Design for Manufacturing (DFM) methodologies to assure form, fit and function.
• Creation and management of Bills of Materials (BOM) in adherence to company standards.
• Participation in customer meetings to understand the design requirements and answer questions regarding product design parameters and/or limitations.
• Providing support during manufacturing to ensure quality and schedule commitments are met.
• Fulfillment of customer requirements (i.e. quotes, shop orders) considering design rules and all applicable interface points.
• Holding cross-functional design reviews as appropriate to solicit input to deliver a robust design that is producible, avoiding interferences and meeting all industry and company requirements.
• Managing Engineering changes through established processes and documentation.
• All other duties as assigned.
OTHER DUTIES MAY INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
Ad-hoc production line or customer support as needed to maintain operational flow or resolve specific customer problems.
TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:
• PTC CREO parametric 3D and/or AutoCAD
• Windchill
• PTC CREO Finite Element Analysis software
• Microsoft Office, SharePoint, PowerBI
• ERP systems for parts release: BAAN, Microsoft Dynamics365
• Design automation software e.g. RuleStream or DriveWorks.
