The VP, Enterprise Relationship Management (ERM) will be responsible for leading the ERM function at NYL to enable the Company to grow and optimize strategic partnerships to maximize long-term value and achieve organizational goals. This role, in partnership with other executive members of the Corporate Development and Strategy (CD&S) team, will lead all aspects of standing up this new function and building out the ERM capabilities at NYL.
Description of the role
Thought, strategy and organizational leadership
- Define the scope and long-term vision for the ERM function in support of the Company’s strategic objectives and develop a pragmatic approach to build and mature its capabilities over time
- For the significant relationships, partner with businesses and executive management to set the partner strategy for the enterprise
- Promote an organizational mindset that strategically builds business relationships with a balanced approach towards near-term as well as longer-term value realization
Develop and enhance ERM capabilities to execute on the ERM function’s scope and vision
- Develop a holistic understanding of NYL’s key strategic priorities, including FB and SB priorities
- Develop a nuanced understanding of the various ongoing and planned relationship management efforts across the enterprise
- Lead external research, data gathering and analysis of cross-industry best practices as well as identify and develop relationships with cross-industry peers in support of the ERM capability development process
- Leverage understanding of the internal landscape as well as external perspectives to develop and enhance ERM capabilities to address key capability gaps across three key areas: data gathering and management, enhanced coordination and business development enablement
Lead and drive all aspects of the ERM function
- Lead all aspects of ERM function’s execution
- Examples of data gathering and management: identify key datapoints to collect and align on foundational reporting needs; build detailed relationship maps outlining connections and interaction points; explore potential CRM tools, including an evaluation of the company's existing solutions
- Examples of enhanced coordination: establish connections and foster strategic conversations with stakeholders internally and externally to gain alignment and build trust; collaborate to leverage collective expertise, exchange information, and amplify shared goals; facilitate bi-directional Executive level communication and relationship building
- Examples of business development enablement: deepen understanding of key strategic firms and NYL’s relationships to ensure strong alignment across the enterprise; improve our ability to negotiate deals for new contracts and partnerships, with scope across the whole enterprise, eliminating individual business unit negotiations; identify business opportunities across the enterprise that support overall growth plans
- Lead all communications, development of supporting materials, and discussions with senior management on ERM function related matters
- Foster transparency, trust, and teamwork through a robust change management approach, shaping the culture of the organization as it adjusts to an ever-changing marketplace
- Create process to track and measure KPIs, including tracking meetings and formal touchpoints with key partners
People Management
- Lead and motivate high performing, diverse teams consisting of direct reports, as well as cross-functional business line and corporate resources in delivering results
- Ensure holistic development needs of the team are being met at all points in their career journey
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in relationship management, sales, or a related role, preferably within the insurance industry
