The Manager, Investment & Valuation within the Distributed Clean Energy (DCE) will be a key member of our Investment & Valuation (I&V) team, bringing distributed renewable energy projects forward for investment decisions at RWE Clean Energy (RWECE). Our I&V team enables value-added growth by providing analysis and critical advice to our colleagues in the business while ensuring strong governance around investment decisions. The Manager will work closely both with our I&V team and with colleagues from the whole Finance community and broader Renewables business. Our team environment is high-energy. Responsibilities:
- Support the strong growth ambitions of our Distributed Clean Energy business (solar PV, battery storage) in the USA
- Manage the DCE area of expertise within the I&V team (i.e. market characteristics, revenue and project structures, risk evaluation, etc.)
- Help assess new markets and projects throughout life-cycle to support decision-making and overall strategy
- Take responsibility for investment decision processes within that area of expertise, prepare or oversee the preparation of presentations and deliver investment recommendations for the consideration of the DCE business, RWECE Executive Team and Board
- Ensure state-of-the-art financial valuations within that area of expertise, both regarding methodological and modeling topics
- Manage stakeholders within the investment decision process, including top management
- Coordinate diligence on investment opportunities
- Lead implementation of improvements to the investment process and valuation approach, with a strong focus on digital initiatives
- Help guide other members of the I&V team in understanding and evaluating distributed energy markets
- Support other members of the I&V team and contribute to our strong team spirit
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Business Administration, Economics, Finance, or similar university degree required
- MBA or advanced degree with a focus on Finance, Economics or a Finance-related professional designation (e.g. CFA, CPA, PMI) preferred
- Minimum of 4 years of experience in project valuation and Finance roles
- Renewable energy experience required, specifically direct experience with distributed energy projects required across community solar, commercial & industrial, and other distributed energy resource segments
- Knowledge of distributed energy markets and desire to conduct in-depth market research and analysis to understand emerging markets and key characteristics
- Proficiency in valuation methodologies (especially DCF) and in financial modeling (Excel)
- Demonstrated skills in project and stakeholder management
- M&A experience, including due diligence experience strongly preferred
- Experience working in complex organizations, where cross-functional participation and decision processes apply
Pay range: The annual base salary range for this position in New York is $96,900 - $145,400 . The listed salary range represents our good faith estimate for this position and represents the range for new hire salaries across all U.S locations. RWE considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s education & work experience, training & certifications, and key skills as well as market and business considerations at the time of the offer.
