About the role
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager and under the direction of the Lead, the Maintenance Technician will be responsible for performing various mechanical, maintenance and repair work including the inspection and maintenance work required for rotating machinery and equipment used for accepting and processing waste and recyclables at the Transfer Station. The Technician will be required to inspect, adjust, repair or modify the mechanics of various rolling stock and facility machinery, including but not limited to wheel loaders, dozers, yard tractors, trucks, cranes, chassis, walking floor trailers, intermodal containers, and compactors.
Key Responsibilities:
The inspection and maintenance work required for rotating machinery and equipment.
Inspect and adjust, as necessary, the mechanical alignment, balance, level and general condition of rotating equipment throughout the Transfer Station
Perform welding in SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW
Perform preventative maintenance tasks
Actively participate in the periodic teardown and internal inspection of major equipment
Use various shop equipment in the performance of his/her assigned tasks
Read and interpret measuring tools, blueprints, P&IDs, graphs and technical manuals

Follow all health and safety rules and regulations mandated by law and per the policies and procedures
Keep work area clean, safe and orderly
Qualifications:
Must have at least three (3) years’ experience with heavy equipment and truck maintenance and repair, crane experience strongly preferred.
High School/GED Diploma required unless candidate has 5 years’ verifiable experience in maintenance.
Formal technical or apprenticeship training is desired.
May be required to work extensive overtime hours during planned and un-planned maintenance.
Welding experience, preferred
Shift: Monday to Friday night shift 2:00pm to 11:00pm
Physical Demands:
Ability to walk, stand, sit, and climb
Ability to lift/carry 50lbs
Ability to work from heights and in confined spaces
