Summer Intern - Cafe in the Park Restaurant

Job Overview: The Summer F&B Intern will Gain first-hand knowledge in the hospitality industry while spending a semester in a unique island resort setting. Moody Gardens’ goal is to help our interns gain a broader understanding of the industry and how to provide a memorable guest experience. To achieve this goal, interns focus on multiple departments while rotating across most department to gain insight in all areas of Hotel F&B hospitality.

Job Summary: We are looking for a dynamic and personable Summer Intern to join our team at Cafe in the Park. This exciting opportunity will allow you to gain experience in various front-of-house roles, including hostessing, serving, assisting servers, and food running. The ideal candidate will have a passion for customer service, an eagerness to learn, and a positive attitude while thriving in a busy, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Hostess: Greet and seat guests in a friendly, professional manner, ensuring they feel welcome. Manage the reservation system and assist in maintaining an organized and efficient seating flow.
• Server: Take orders from guests, deliver food and drinks, and ensure that all needs are met throughout the dining experience. Provide recommendations and ensure customer satisfaction.
• Server Assistant: Support the server team by clearing tables, refilling drinks, and assisting with various tasks to ensure smooth operations.
• Food Runner: Assist in delivering food from the kitchen to the correct tables, ensuring timely and accurate service.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization in the dining area, including setting and resetting tables.
• Ensure all food orders are accurate and presented according to the restaurant’s standards.
• Assist in maintaining stock levels of supplies and ensuring all workstations are clean and well-prepared.
• Provide excellent customer service and support, ensuring a positive dining experience for guests.
• Work closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth operations and efficient service.
• Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and food safety standards.

Requirements:

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Previous experience in customer service or food service is a plus, but not required.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work well with others.
• Strong multitasking abilities and the ability to work efficiently in a busy environment.
• Friendly, professional, and customer-focused attitude.
• Must be reliable, punctual, and willing to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
• A passion for learning and a positive attitude toward training and development.
