POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Business Services, included in the collaborative department of Raider Student Services, strives to meet students’ expectations for convenience and for efficient and effective student account, billing, and collection services. Under the supervision of the Assistant Bursar, the Student Accounts Associate (SAA) provides support surrounding inquiries and concerns related to enrollment, financial aid, and financial topics including billing and payment services to offer clarity and insight of these topics for students, their families, and other constituents. The SAA possesses extensive knowledge of these services and related procedures and deadlines, and plays an integral role in the recruitment and retention of students at SOU.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Three years of office experience which included two years at full performance level and experience generating documents; and
  • Lead work responsibility or coordination of office procedures.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or significant experience in customer service.
  • Experience with Workday, Banner SIS and/or other integrated student information system.
  • Cash handling experience, including balancing daily receipts and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Experience with computer systems and programs.
  • Critical thinking and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to prioritize compliance and maintain student privacy.

(75%) Job duties include:

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective and current students by phone, email and in person.
  • Greet, assist, and explain laws, rules, regulations and policies with professionalism and service to students as a core value.
  • Exercise sound judgement.
  • Research complex student account issues.
  • Respond to student and family inquiries regarding billing or excess funding.
