Job Description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The HR Generalist supports daily human resources operations and provides direct assistance to employees and supervisors across multiple functional areas. This role is responsible for coordinating the recruiting lifecycle, supporting onboarding, managing leave cases, generating Work Comp reports, and assisting with agency HR training initiatives. The HR Generalist ensures accuracy, compliance, professionalism, and timely communication across all HR processes while delivering a positive employee experience. 

Please note: This role requires a consistent, in-person presence at the designated workplace in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and does not offer remote, telecommuting, or hybrid options.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Recruitment & Hiring Lifecycle: Coordinate the full recruiting process including screening applicants, scheduling interviews, communicating with candidates, and assisting supervisors with hiring decisions; Ensure consistency, transparency, and compliance in every step of the hiring and selection process; Prepare job offer documentation and collaborate with HRIS/Payroll to ensure accurate setup. 

  • Onboarding Coordination: Manage new hire onboarding logistics, including orientation scheduling, document distribution, and completion tracking; Collaborate with the HRIS Specialist to ensure accurate processing of employee data and credentials; Serve as the point of contact for new employees during their first weeks of employment. 

  • FMLA & Leave Administration: Coordinate, track, and maintain documentation for FMLA, ADA, and other leaves of absence; Communicate leave status to employees and supervisors with professionalism and confidentiality; Ensure timely completion of forms, notices, and return‑to‑work clearances; Maintain accurate records and timelines in compliance with state and federal regulations. 

  • Work Comp Reporting & Case Support: Prepare Work Comp reports, maintain injury logs, and track follow‑up actions; Serve as the liaison between supervisors, employees, insurance partners, and HR leadership on Work Comp matters; Ensure compliance with reporting timelines and internal procedures. 

  • Department Shadowing & Cross‑Training Support: Participate in department shadowing to understand HR functions and ensure proper workflow continuity; Maintain documentation of cross‑training efforts and support skill transfer across HR roles. 

  • Employee & Supervisor Support: Provide customer‑focused support to employees requesting information related to recruiting, onboarding, leave, Work Comp, and general HR processes; Respond to HR inbox inquiries and escalate complex issues when needed; Maintain strict confidentiality in all HR interactions and records. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business, or a related field;

  • Four (4) years of experience in an HR Generalist or HR Business Partner role with a solid understanding of HR practices and procedures;

  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • PHSRA-CP or SHRM-CP;

  • Experience in public sector human resources;

  • Experience utilizing HR Roles in Workday

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without sponsorship now or in the future;

  • Successful completion of a pre-employment background check;

  • Must possess a valid driver’s license from a U.S. state or territory to perform necessary job-related travel.
