About the role

About the Team

The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) team at Stitch Fix is responsible for the company’s vision and strategy for driving equitable outcomes across functions. Since its founding, Stitch Fix has prioritized principles of diversity, equity, and inclusion and is now focused on explicitly bringing those principles into a cross-company strategy. Our team leads that work in partnership with the Executive Leadership Team. We prioritize centering the voices of the most marginalized groups, partner to design systems that are optimized for equity, and co-create content and programming to build DEI capacity across the company. We are equal parts advisors and doers, and we hold ourselves and our partners across the company accountable for driving systemic change.

About the Role

As DEI Director, you will be the leader of the DEI function and report directly to the Chief People Officer. In addition to managing a DEI Program Manager, you will work closely with the rest of the P&C leadership team, cross-functional partners, and leaders across the company to sharpen and embed aspects of Stitch Fix’s DEI strategy in everything we do. This includes continuing the team’s work to drive execution and accountability against our DEI strategy, evolving DEI specific training and development opportunities, and managing and maximizing engagement and impact of Stitch Fix Communities (our 7 Employee Resource Groups).

You will have an opportunity to bring your systems mindset and strong influencing skills to guide partners across the company to re-imagine their work through the lens of diversity, equity, and inclusion - from internal people practices, to product strategy, to how we show up to our clients. Your DEI subject matter expertise and skill working through complex problems will allow you to design and level-up strategies that address root causes of inequity across the company.

You're excited about this opportunity because you will…

  • Be an integral part of evolving and institutionalizing Stitch Fix’s DEI strategy.
  • Bring thought leadership, tailored insights, and strategic perspective to fostering inclusion, increasing diversity, and designing equitable systems across a distributed team.
  • Partner with other functions within Stitch Fix to embed company-wide DEI strategies into their strategies, roadmaps, and ways of working.
  • Co-create DEI specific accountability structures & frameworks alongside partners across the People & Culture team.

We’re excited about you because…

  • You have deep subject matter expertise in diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • You have been responsible for leading the development and implementation of an organization’s DEI strategy.
  • You are able to successfully influence without direct authority across functions and levels.
  • You consistently leverage qualitative and quantitative data to build strategy and inform programmatic design.
  • You have effectively designed and implemented change management initiatives.
  • You are able to leverage partners to conduct root cause analysis so that you can transform ambiguous problems into strategies and solutions.
  • You are excited to set strategy, advise and consult, but you can roll up your sleeves and do the work.
  • Candidates with these skills often have 10+ years of relevant experience, but depth of skill and role related competence is more important to us than years of experience.

Why you'll love working at Stitch Fix...

  • We are a group of bright, kind people who are motivated by challenge. We value integrity, innovation and trust. You’ll bring these characteristics to life in everything you do at Stitch Fix.
  • We cultivate a community of diverse perspectives— all voices are heard and valued.
  • We are an innovative company and leverage our strengths in fashion and tech to disrupt the future of retail.
  • We win as a team, commit to our work, and celebrate grit together because we value strong relationships.
  • We boldly create the future while keeping equity and sustainability at the center of all that we do.
  • We are the owners of our work and are energized by solving problems through a growth mindset lens. We think broadly and creatively through every situation to create meaningful impact.
  • We offer comprehensive compensation packages and inclusive health and wellness benefits.
