FULL-TIME POSITION, MONDAY-FRIDAY

The Staff Accountant & Payroll Specialist is a hybrid role responsible for delivering accurate financial accounting and timely payroll and benefits administration across multiple automotive dealership locations. This position ensures the integrity of financial reporting, maintains internal controls, supports month-end close, and guarantees that employees are paid accurately and on time. Working closely with Controllers and dealership management, the role helps drive operational efficiency, compliance, and employee satisfaction. 

Job Duties and Responsibilities including, but not limited to: 

Accounting Responsibilities: 

  • Review, analyze, and post accounting transactions from the Dealer Management System (DMS) related to retail vehicle sales. 

  • Calculate and record sales commissions in the DMS. 

  • Validate processing of new vehicle rebates in customer deals. 

  • Assist with monthly reconciliations, journal entries, and ad-hoc financial reporting. 

  • Maintain accurate and compliant general ledger entries across dealership accounts. 

  • Support Assistant Controller with special projects and month/year-end closing tasks. 

Payroll & Benefits Responsibilities: 

  • Process bi-monthly payroll for all employees, including wage calculations, deductions, overtime, and benefit elections. 

  • Verify and reconcile timekeeping records for accurate payroll processing. 

  • Maintain accurate records of payroll and benefits transactions for compliance and audits. 

  • Process financial transactions including credit card payments, issuing checks, and receipts. 

 

Qualifications

  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines. 

  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion when handling sensitive financial and personal data. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills for interacting with team members, management, and external partners. 

  • Ability to work independently, adapt to change, and contribute as a team player. 

  • Proficiency with Excel and familiarity with accounting/payroll software  

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset. 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. 

  • 2+ years of experience in accounting and payroll; automotive dealership experience preferred. 

  • Paycom experience a plus. 

  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record. 

  • Willingness to travel occasionally between dealership locations. 

  • Willingness to work extended hours during closing periods. 

  • Compliance with all dealership and manufacturer job-related training. 

  • Adherence to employee handbook policies and professional appearance standards.
