Position Summary

Washington University Department of Ophthalmology is seeking a dedicated and skilled Medical Staff Optometrist to join our esteemed academic medical practice. The ideal candidate will provide comprehensive eye care services, diagnosis and management of ocular diseases, and the opportunity for pre- and post-operative care for surgical patients. This role involves working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team of ophthalmologists, residents, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional patient care and contribute to the department's educational and research missions.

Position is responsible for evaluating and treating patients within the WashU Eye Center. Travel between multiple clinic locations required.

Job Description

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Evaluates and treats patients including: refractive exams; contact lens fitting and dispensing; emergency exams; evaluation and management of medical diseases of the eye.
  • Discusses and interprets findings with patients and suggests appropriate remedy.
  • Adheres to established compliance guidelines to include those governing the appropriate coding of patient services and diagnoses.
  • Adheres to established quality, safety and hazardous material procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the director of ophthalmology.
