Position:  Survey Field Technician 

Job Location:  Coeur d’ Alene, ID


J-U-B ENGINEERS, Inc. is hiring a summer part time Survey Field Technician to work in our Coeur d’Alene, ID office.  As one of the largest professional engineering companies in the Intermountain West, J-U-B delivers innovative services which allow our clients to succeed, while providing an enriching environment for our employees.

This is a field position working with our survey crews under the supervision of a survey party chief on a variety of survey projects ranging from boundary surveys to construction staking.  


The main responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

  • Set up, adjust, and operate GNSS receivers, data collectors, robotic total stations, lasers, and levels used for specific surveying tasks
  • Measure and record data based on information collected from various survey instruments
  • Compile information necessary to stake projects for construction using engineering plans
  • Lay out and recover public and private land corners
  • Stake design plans in municipal/urban and rural settings
  • Set property corners and other survey monuments
  • Ensure survey trucks have necessary equipment and materials for workday
  • Maintain the order and cleanliness of survey equipment
  • Drive stakes, hubs, rebar, and other survey markers into the ground
  • Assist the other members of the surveying team
  • Desire to learn and grow in the surveying field under the mentorship of our party chiefs and Professional Land Surveyors

Requirements

  • 1-5 years previous Surveying experience desired, but not required
  • Knowledge of survey practices and procedures desired
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record
  • Fundamental knowledge of mathematics, geometry, and trigonometry desired
  • The ability to perform physically strenuous tasks in an outdoor environment in all weather conditions
  • Highly motivated, self-starter and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgement capabilities
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50-pounds
  • Flexibility to work various hours and/or longer hours at times depending on workload and fast changing schedules
