About the Role
This role leads an engineering team responsible for the Commercial Loyalty technology domain. The team owns the design, development, deployment, and operational health of platforms that power loyalty, benefits, and partner experiences for Commercial customers.
You will oversee and mentor a team of software engineers across multiple experience levels, building a culture of strong technical ownership, continuous learning, and engineering excellence. This role requires a leader who can operate effectively in complex systems, bring clarity to ambiguous problem spaces, and partner closely with Product, Architecture, and Business stakeholders while providing strong technical leadership through design, standards, and coaching.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, mentor, and coach a team of software engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning, inclusivity, and high technical standards.
Build, manage, and develop an engineering team of approximately 6–10 engineers, including hiring, onboarding, performance management, and career development.
Own end-to-end delivery and operational accountability for the Commercial Loyalty technology domain, spanning legacy platforms and modern cloud-native services.
Partner closely with Product, Business, Architecture, and senior technology leadership to define and execute domain-level technology strategy, roadmaps, and delivery priorities.
Translate complex business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions, guiding teams through system design and implementation.
Lead teams through complex architectural decisions, evaluating multiple approaches, articulating tradeoffs, and influencing stakeholders toward sound technical outcomes.
Establish and sustain a strong culture of quality engineering, including automated testing, QA automation, and shift-left quality practices across the software development lifecycle.
Drive adoption and continuous improvement of CI/CD pipelines, DevOps practices, and release automation to enable fast, safe, and repeatable delivery.
Ensure security, compliance, and resilience are built into system design and delivery through secure coding practices, automated security controls, and strong production readiness standards.
Lead modernization and continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, scalability, observability, automation, and developer experience.
Coordinate delivery across globally distributed teams, proactively managing risks, dependencies, tradeoffs, and execution challenges.
Leverage metrics, feedback, and operational data to continuously improve software quality, team performance, and delivery outcomes.
Education and Knowledge
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or comparable experience; advanced degree preferred.
Strong knowledge of distributed (multi-tiered) systems, algorithms, relational databases, and NoSQL technologies.
Deep familiarity with the tools and practices used to plan, design, build, test, deploy, and operate enterprise software systems.
