About the role

Starting Rate: Salary is Commensurate with Experience

The Dauphin County Commissioners’ Office is currently accepting applications for the full-time position of Executive Assistant to Commissioner Hartwick. The objective of the employee in this role is to provide a variety of administrative and clerical duties as required by the Board of Commissioners. Salary is Commensurate with Experience. 

The employee in this role is responsible for but not limited to performing the following essential functions: provides administrative and clerical support to County Commissioners; spearheads projects as directed by the Commissioners; composes letters, memos, bulletins and other correspondence; arranges meetings and special events for the Board of Commissioners; maintains and updates records and files on various department projects and information; and takes and transcribes dictation, types correspondences and other information as directed by the Commissioners.

The employee in this role is also responsible for but not limited to performing the additional office duties listed below: opens, sorts and distributes mail for assigned County Commissioners; interacts with County officials, other departments and the general public on behalf of the County; answers routine telephone inquiries and correspondence; prepares travel arrangements as necessary; makes and cancels appointments as required;  prepares and submits travel expenses for payment; and performs all other duties as assigned.

Minimum Educational, Experience, and Training Requirements:

Education/Training:

  • High School diploma or equivalent, plus additional business/clerical and computer training required.

Work Experience:

  • Two to four years’ working experience in secretarial/administrative positions.

Other Job Duties:

  • Carries out administrative duties of the Commissioners as assigned.
  • Attends meetings and all trainings as required; runs meetings with Commissioners’ oversight directors; attends events in the absence of, or in conjunction with, the Commissioners.
  • Assists other department employees as required.
  • Operates computer equipment and other office machines as requested to carry out essential job duties.
  • Performs other job-related duties as required.
