Oishii is seeking an Engineer I (Project Commissioning & Critical Facilities) to join our growing team!
As a part of our Engineering Team, an Engineer I - (Project Commissioning & Critical Facilities) - you will be at the tip of the spear as you commission, oversee, and improve state-of-the-art indoor vertical farming facilities. As an exceptionally fast learner with high ownership skills and multidisciplinary engineering interests, you will tackle anything and everything required to rapidly commission facilities. From sensors and controls to plumbing, fabricating, and installing components, you will be required to be on site daily, build familiarity and competence quickly while working closely with technical experts. You will work under the direction of an all-star engineering team on broad and diverse projects that span fluid, thermal, electromechanical and automation systems. You will collaborate cross functionally with plant science, operations, and R&D staff to drive forward key initiatives.
Once commissioned, you will play a critical role in observing and tracking performance, pushing forward projects, coordinating closely with highly technical engineers and maintenance technicians in order to stabilize and improve facility performance. The role is demanding and requires not just strong problem solving skills but also the willingness to do the physical work required to bring vertical farms to life. This role is especially compelling for those who want to dig in while learning numerous engineering disciplines along the way.
As an Engineer I (Project Commissioning & Critical Facilities) you will:
- Assemble, install and test systems, technologies, and components during the construction and commissioning phases of vertical farming deployments
- Install and troubleshoot plumbing, electrical, mechanical, controls or automation systems
- Coordinate with and take direction from engineering technical experts
- Utilize hand tools and fabrication equipment safely and effectively
- Fabricate and deploy upgrades to existing facilities post-commissioning
- Monitor facility performance during commissioning and collaborate with engineers and maintenance staff to complete commissioning checklists
- Coordinate with and oversee contractors and tradesmen to ensure correct installation of technical designs
- Present updates on commissioning and maintenance to engineering managers
- Read and implement engineering designs and construction documents
- Build documentation and develop installation guides and manuals to unlock more efficient future buildouts
- Deliver creative solutions to new problems and collaborate with technical designers and R&D staff to rapidly overcome challenges
- Maintain Safety standards at all times
- Drive projects that will build your expertise across various disciplines, including: HVAC, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics, Lighting systems, Controls, industrial automation, and production engineering, irrigation, water management, and plumbing
