About the role

23anMe is seeking a Senior Program Manager I to join our Consumer Program Management Team. In this role, you will work with teams across the company to enable the 23andMe Consumer organization to launch new products and features. You will lead cross-functional projects that deliver on our Roadmap and OKRs, collaborating with product managers, designers, engineers, scientists, medical experts, marketers, and customer care agents. You will ensure team members are clear on roles, responsibilities, deliverables and dates, and will actively manage the overall project execution so we can deliver great products on-time and within budget.

What You’ll Do

  • Partner with Product Managers, Engineering leads and other key stakeholders to oversee the Roadmap and Milestones for a designated Product area (“Workstream”)
  • Work closely with cross functional stakeholders to define milestones, goals and objectives
  • Drive Milestone planning with diverse cross-functional dependencies and a high degree of synchronization
  • Develop the execution plan for each Milestone by mapping out deliverables, identifying dependencies, and clarifying ownership and decision makers
  • Continually review and revise project schedules as needed, escalating risks and deviations to stakeholders and executive leadership
  • Provide clear, effective and context-aware communication within and across team boundaries to drive alignment
  • Facilitate meetings and decision making, follow up on action items and keep stakeholders accountable 
  • Ensure actions and processes are standardized, well-documented, and comply with all applicable SOPs and regulations
  • Identify and implement process improvements to drive greater efficiency and effectiveness of the product development process
  • Assist in other critical organizational support activities, such as contracting, budgeting, and scheduling


What You’ll Bring

  • 5+ years of work experience in program or project management
  • 3+ years' experience working closely with product and engineering teams on B2C products
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • PMP certification a significant plus but not required
  • Proficiency in program/project management tools (e.g. Smartsheet, Jira, Confluence, spreadsheets, presentations, etc.); you're fully comfortable collaborating in an online/cloud-based environment (e.g. Google Apps, Slack, etc.)
  • Experience building trusted partnerships across teams. Strong cross-functional relationship management skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, including written, verbal, and visual media. This role requires regular communication with the Executive Leadership team.
  • Ability to work independently and with a strong sense of ownership
  • Ability to work from 23andMe's office in Sunnyvale, CA a minimum of 2 days per week 
  • Experience in the health tech sector and a working knowledge of genetics are both pluses
