Job Summary:

The Arizona Department of Juvenile Corrections (ADJC) is seeking an Events and Communication Coordinator who will work under the direction of the Government and Public Affairs Administrator. The position works closely with both Executive Leadership and agency employees to ensure efficient and effective coordinations of all activities. The position is office based but will occasionally be required to go to the secure facility. The position is responsible for Internal Communications, Employee Recognition, Special Events and select state-wide campaigns. The position also provides support to Executive Leadership Staff as needed. ADJC is searching for an energetic, outgoing, and self-motivated individual who would be responsible for this role.

Job Duties:
  • Employee Recognition Program - Oversee and coordinate agency employee recognition ceremonies and events, to include but not limited to: monthly awards program, annual awards ceremony, memorial garden ceremony, Employee Appreciation Week, Correctional Officer Week and Parole Officer Week. Oversee the Employee Recognition Committee in managing the employee fund to include fundraisers and other employee events as needed.
  • Internal Communications Platform - Manage internal communication including Front-line communication and monthly newsletters.
  • Outside Collaboration - Collaborate and oversee events with the State Employee Charitable Campaign (SECC), Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics, Vitalant Blood Services, Domestic Violence Awareness Month, DCS Giving Tree and Travel Reduction Program.
  • Graphic Design - Create fliers for events and staff notifications, create templates and graphics for the monthly newsletter. Assist executive staff graphics as needed.
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs): Knowledge of:
  • Project management as it relates to business functions (initiate, plan, execute, monitor and control, close)
  • Event coordination and budget management
  • Reporting and interviewing best practices
  • Google programs, Canva, and basic graphic design
  • Social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn)
