Job Summary
The Director, Engineering will be responsible for leading and managing a team of engineers, overseeing engineering for variety of teams, which may include any combination of manufacturing, sustaining, , process improvement, process validation, and calibration and preventive maintenance with responsibilities for supporting high-quality medical devices within the healthcare industry. This leader is accountable for sustaining engineering quality, leveraging engineering best practices, and creating process improvements aligned with operational efficiencies, quality standards, and manufacturing excellence aligned with the growth of the company and advancement of our portfolio. The role will be responsible for end-to-end aspects of engineering, aligned with day-to-day operations, defining the strategic direction of the engineering team to drive and sustain business growth in accordance with the company’s overall business goals.
Job Details/Responsibilities
- This position has responsibilities for developing and implementing technical strategies that drive innovation, optimize resources, and ensures the delivery of quality products to customers.
- Lead and manage engineering teams, ensuring that all members are working effectively and efficiently towards the goals set forth by the organization.
- Develop and drive validation and optimization of manufacturing processes
- Develop and execute equipment qualification, calibration and maintenance strategies
- Lead root-cause investigation for product and process failure; collaboration with Manufacturing and Quality team
- Provide stable and predictable manufacturing environment to manufacturing team through improving process, maintain equipment, and improve equipment usability
- Lead the development of technologies and equipment to enable improved product performance and efficiency in manufacturing.
- Lead and provide direct manufacturing engineering supporting product manufacturing across multiple portfolios.
- Provide technical input to the execution of the lifecycle management and supplier change notifications.
- Participate in portfolio development, management, and organizational oversight of the execution of operational cost down activities that deliver annual gross margin improvements to the product portfolios.
Job Responsibilities (continued)
- Develop short-medium term plans to ensure engineering initiatives aligned with the companies’ long-term objectives and business strategies.
- Capable of providing and supporting lean methodology and other engineering best practices driving results in engineering for the future growth of the organization.
- Participate in manufacturing engineering activities for strategic planning, budgeting, expense management and project management review.
- Provide direct supervision, development, and performance planning leadership to leaders and direct report engineering associates, as assigned.
- Overall responsibilities for budget, timelines, and being fiscal responsibility, which includes driving cost and operational improvements in support of the company’s long-term strategic objectives.
