Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS is seeking a highly skilled Systems Engineering Certification Manager (Level K) to work to build a Certification Capability within the Oklahoma City, OK site.
The Boeing OKC site focuses on providing our customers' fleets with timely, high quality engineered modernization upgrades and modification solutions on a variety platforms such as government executive transports, surveillance and bomber aircraft. Our goal is create an engaged engineering certification and airworthiness team focused on providing focals with certification engineers and technical leadership to each program.
Position Responsibilities:
Identify and maintain all certification needs across programs within the Mobility, Surveillance, and Bombers Division within Boeing Defense Systems primarily focused on Oklahoma City but also engaging with other leaders in the division.
Maintain and regularly hire experienced individuals to support airworthiness programs and track development of skill level and growth of all certification engineers across the CERT capability.
Train additional internal engineers to grow the competency of the certification engineers.
Hire, grow, and maintain technical lead certification engineers to support programs on a full time, part time, or as needed basis to provide technical leadership to each program.
Maintain status of each programs certification process and provide authorization for accurate certification maturity at each program milestone.
Work with individual program systems engineering managers to understand each need for the program including additional engineers, technical lead engineer support, and appropriate certification maturity.
Develop training plans and lead training efforts to grow CERT experience levels.
Support teams in developing aggressive execution schedules, engineering estimates, and provide technical engineers to support teams of lower skill level.
Potential travel up to 25%.
This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location.
This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret clearance Post Start is required.
Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):
Bachelor’s degree or higher in Engineering.
5+ years’ engineering experience.
1+ years’ experience leading certification engineering teams as a manager or technical lead.
1+ years in Systems Engineering Verification Process or Certification and Airworthiness Compliance Process.
The ability to manage direct reports at different levels of expertise from entry level engineers to Senior Engineering Experts.
The ability to identify engineering needs and aggressive hire to the needs of each program.
The ability to lead teams to develop standardized and repeatable material for the growth and development of our people, processes, and tools.
The ability to collaborate with other program leaders and develop a strategy for hiring, execution, and technical excellence.
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
Familiarity with FAA, EASA, and Military Airworthiness process and regulation.
Collaborate with the regulatory authority (FAA) and internal engineering team to establish the certification basis for the aircraft systems and equipment as well as the means of compliance.
Leading certification experts to performs technical airworthiness planning and verification support including STC development and negotiation of airworthiness plans, basis of certifications, means of compliance, and certification activities for complex total systems.
The ability and desire to proactively hire and aggressively grow the team to meet the needs and skills of the Systems Engineering Certification/Airworthiness Team.
The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing for project plans, execution schedules and recovery plans to senior leadership.
Highly motivated to deliver to an aggressive schedule and must work well in a team environment to collaborate with individuals and other product teams and leaders.
