This position has the possibility to work remotely up to 100% of the time. The position will require occasional travel to the Phoenix corporate offices and/or site locations. This position may be performed anywhere in the U.S. except California, Connecticut, Illinois, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma and South Carolina.  Additional states may be excluded from remote work based on business factors.  Should the positions shift to in-office work in the future, the company will offer relocation benefits at that time should the position meet the established eligibility for these benefits.

Description

Under limited supervision, lead Company effort to plan, organize, provide guidance, manage, evaluate, and participate in the program related to updating the emergency planning and preparedness approach. Project tasks include updating corporate templates for plans, supporting sites with their implementation and reviewing outcomes/status, and facilitating scheduled training and tabletop exercises to meet internal and external stakeholder requirements (Global Industry Standard on Tailings Management - GISTM, Copper Mark, ICMM, Crisis Management Guideline & Business Continuity Plans).   

  • Manage the consultant contract(s) whose scope is designed to incorporate the GISTM Emergency Preparedness and Response Plan (EPRP) requirements into FCX’s existing crisis management program, considering existing Emergency Action Plans (EAPs) in this process.
  • Collaborate with Tailings, Crushed Leach and Water (TCLW), H&S, Responsible Production and Information Services to ensure the crisis planning requirements for their respective areas are being met at each site and provide guidance to site management team on necessary programs and practices. 
  • Collaborate with consultants, Corporate and sites to gain consensus on the use of a universal template for managing crises within FCX.
  • Enhance sites’ efforts to update Crisis Management Plans to match the updated Crisis Management Guideline which will be designed to meet GISTM, Copper Mark and Business Continuity requirements. Intent is to assist with the work involved in merging existing plans into the new template and minimize disruption to the sites. 
  • Supports and reviews work products from site Responsible Tailings Facility Engineer (RTFE) and Crisis Management Lead, along with Corporate TCLW SQRA/Risk Assessment Lead, as they interpret results of their credible failure modes analysis and risk assessment and breach analysis (if relevant) to inform EPRP content.
  • Partner with and enhance efforts of sites, Responsible Production, Community Development and Legal to ensure external stakeholders are engaged and provide input on company crisis that could have an impact on the community. Priority on this effort to the first tranche of copper mark sites (Cerro Verde, El Abra, Morenci, El Paso & Miami). Travel and participation in these engagements will be necessary.
  • Ensure FCX has an adequate process that keeps Crisis Management Plans updated and performing practice exercises to meet internal and external requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Corporate and site teams to develop and supervise execution of processes in which emergency planning tabletop and live exercises are documented and learnings are shared with the other sites.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation of all EPRP requirements is completed in coordination with site stakeholders such as RTFE, Crisis Management Team Lead, etc.
  • Work with sites to develop, enhance, and evaluate appropriate solutions that minimize the potential impacts of site emergencies to the surrounding community. 
  • Contribute to corporate blueprint initiatives and crisis management working group meetings to share learnings from sites and to contribute to corporate strategic planning and budgeting efforts for relevant engineering studies, crisis management plan support, and external engagement approaches.
