The Department of Economic Security, Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD), is seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Humans Services Worker 2 -Eligibility. DDD provides individuals with developmental disabilities, and their families, services and supports that are flexible, high quality, and member driven. These services provide individuals with opportunities to exercise their rights and responsibilities of independent decision-making and engagement in the community.
Applicants for this position cannot be licensed or certified by the DDD Office of Licensing Certification and Regulation, cannot have a principal interest in or have a spouse or close family with principal interest in a DDD Qualified Vendor Agreement, and cannot be employed or subcontracted by a DDD Qualified Vendor.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
● Processes Eligibility packets. Document received packets/cases into unit log Routinely checks database for a record of a referral/ application. Reviews application packets for completeness. Forwards completed packets to the assigned Eligibility Specialist and created proxies for flow board.
● Conduct daily follow up with providers to obtain additional information that is needed for processing of Eligibility packets; Close case files to assist with determinations within time frames outlined in policy and procedure.
● Serves as the in-day person in a unit and/or office. Answers office telephones and phone calls for Eligibility Specialists who are out of the office. Takes accurate messages and/or routes to appropriate staff. Responds to routine questions for information from families and providers.
● Maintains office supplies, copy machines, postage meter, etc. Opens, reviews, sorts, and distributes office mail to appropriate Unit staff, ensuring that critical documents (e.g., applications, medical records) are prioritized for a timely response by the Eligibility Specialist/Division. Copies documents as requested.
● Collects necessary information for and prepares eligibility and member re-determination packets. Tracks eligibility decisions. Inputs member information into member information database.

● Basic human needs, human growth, personality, and behavior.
● Community resources; Tracking systems.
● General office procedures.
Skills In:
● Applying federal laws, state statutes, and agency policies and procedures.
● Recognizing basic human rights and the care and assistance needs of individuals with developmental disabilities.
● Oral and written communication; Organizational skills.
● Initiating, developing, and maintaining member files; Basic clerical skills including proper telephone etiquette, operating office equipment (e.g., copier, fax).
● Interpersonal relations as applied to contacts with applicants, members and representatives of other governmental and community organizations and the public.
● Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and other computer applications.
