The Opportunity 

 This role is responsible for directing and coordinating activities of cheese production and sanitation areas, processing raw materials and manufacturing customer specific product. This permanent position will report to the Cheese Production Manager. Essential functions include but are not limited to the following.

• Responsible for the total operation of the shift and will ensure adherence to production schedule and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
• Lead daily crew meetings that include discussion on safety, quality and production.
• Operate machinery and troubleshoot any issues that arise while ensuring adherence to safety principles and practices.
• Plan, assign and direct work of employees and provide performance feedback addressing any complaints, resolving issues and appraising performance(s).
• Monitor cheese process equipment to identify potential errors and develop solutions to eliminate the reoccurrence of those problems.
• Comply with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates.

   The Skills you will bring to the team

• Bachelor’s degree or related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Forklift and scissor lift certification and general machine maintenance knowledge is preferred.
• Provide leadership to others through examples and sharing of knowledge/skill.
• Ability to prioritize tasks, handle multiply projects simultaneously and delegate assignments to others
• Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
• Ability to effectively present information and respond to queries from leaders, clients, customers and the general public.
• Ability to define problem, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions to deal with a variety of concrete variable.   
• Knowledge of safety policies, practices and procedures and ability to lead team to adhere to them.

The opportunity will be based in St. Johns, MI.  This role is for the night shift. (more details about the shift schedule will be shared by your recruiting team)
