Primary Purpose
The athletic program at Appalachian State University operates on the premise that intercollegiate athletics is an integral part of the institution’s overall program of education. Priority is given to high standards of both academic and athletic quality — the goal being the complete development of the student-athlete.
The purpose of the position in Athletic Administration is to support the mission of the App State Athletics Department by assisting with concessions, parking, and merchandise sales.

- Bachelor’s Degree
- Commitment to customer service and desire to impact game day experience for guests
- Proven ability to work in a high-stakes, fast-paced environment
- Strong interpersonal communication skills
- Computer skills in document/spreadsheet design, (Google Drive, Adobe suite, Canva, etc.)
- Strong time management skills
- Master’s Degree
- Experience in NCAA Division I College Athletics
Duties/Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Communicate with supervisor on a weekly basis regarding schedule, current assignments and projects
- Game Day load-in: Assist with load-in and preparation for App State Athletics events
- Stadium Experience & Guest Services: Serve as a concessions, merchandise, and/or guest services representative at various App State Athletics events
- Assist with ordering, inventorying, and stocking of food and beverage selections
- Scheduling concessions and parking staff for game days and preparatory work
- Train Point of Sale Staff to promote food and beverage options to guests
- Thorough cleaning throughout shifts to ensure a healthy work environment
- Training on Payment Card Industry (PCI) Security/Clover equipment for sales transactions
- Serving as a guest service representative by greeting visitors and thanking them for attending
- Always Food Safe and Forklift Training required (training and fees provided)
- Significant weekend and weeknight hours are necessary
- Other duties as assigned
The ideal candidate will collaborate with other departments, show initiative, and execute projects in a timely manner while adhering to expectations on the quality of work. The employee will be certified in food and forklift training and trained in all work duties and responsibilities.
- Medium work. Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Specific roles, such as revenue generation positions, often involve lifting, pushing, and pulling heavy carts, as well as handling food items, equipment, and supplies.
