Join Gainesville Regional Utilities (GRU) as a Production Technician assigned at the Kelly Plant and be part of a team that ensures safe, reliable, and efficient power generation for all our plants and our community. This is highly skilled, journey-level technical work involving electrical, electronic, instrumentation, mechanical, and control systems in a power plant environment.

Production Technicians perform a wide range of responsibilities, including operating and maintaining plant equipment, installing and calibrating instrumentation and controls, and troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems. Work also involves monitoring system performance, conducting preventive and predictive maintenance, and ensuring compliance with safety procedures such as lock out/tag out. In the supervisor’s absence, the Production Technician may provide leadership support to maintain operational continuity.

The ideal candidate is methodical, safety-conscious, and detail-focused, with the ability to identify and resolve equipment issues before they impact operations. Strong teamwork and communication skills are essential, as this role frequently collaborates with other plant staff, contractors, and vendors. Candidates with experience in instrumentation, controls, and electrical (ICE) systems are especially encouraged to apply.

The work schedule is rotating shift work that requires flexibility to support a 24-hour operation and may work at any of the GRU Energy Supply generating sites.
