About the role

Description

We are actively hiring experienced Automotive Technicians, Mechanics, Service Advisors, and Parts Specialists.


At this time, a Mechanical Claims Adjuster is needed to protect the interest of the administration company by following the guidelines of each contract Portfolio administers while providing knowledge to the customers and dealers. Handles all claims calls with a concentration on “small-medium” claims.


Hybrid work opportunity eligibility once 6-month onsite training has been successfully completed.


This is not a Remote work opportunity. Applicants who are out of state or who are not in reasonable commuting distance from Portfolio's Strongsville, OH office will not be considered for an interview.


  • Training schedule: 9:00 am - 6:00 pm EST.
  • Proposed Work Schedule, following Training: Monday - Friday 9:15 am - 6:15 pm EST or 9:30 am - 6:30 pm EST (Additional work schedules available.)  
  • Hybrid Schedule after Training: Tuesdays and Wednesdays in the Strongsville, OH office. Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays would be Work From Home.

Compensation: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour, Depending on Experience. Exceptional Benefits Package!


Essential Functions:

  • Process mechanical claims.
  • Respond to inbound calls in a timely manner using the utmost professionalism.
  • Gather information from customers, service advisors, and dealers to help us make the best decision possible.
  • Guide both customers and repair facilities through the claims process. Explain the information needed to process the claim as efficiently as possible.
  • Take detailed notes of conversations. Provide that information in the contract and admin system.
  • Review the estimate submitted by the repair facility.
  • Review contracts in the system.
  • Compare coverage on contract to estimate (Pull parts & labor times in Mitchell or search for parts prices by using the internet or manufacturer’s website).
  • Pull maintenance schedules (utilize manufacturer’s resources) and fill out maintenance sheets.
  • Request any additional information that you may need to make the best possible decision.
  • Order inspection if required/ discrepancies.
  • Escalate questionable claims to a supervisor or team lead.
  • Authorize/Deny claim with authorization of up to $2500; includes supervisor/team lead on all claims in excess of $2500 before finalizing authorization or denial.
  • Serves as a backup to claims payments in evenings and/or Saturdays.
  • Answers general question calls.
  • Takes ownership of changes and is personally responsible for managing change in an upbeat positive manner.
  • Strives to enforce and live the Portfolio Philosophy each and every day.
  • Other duties as needed.

Requirements

Education and Qualification Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Problem-solving skills.
  • Clear demonstration of positive customer service skills.
  • A high level of organizational skills.
  • Ability to navigate through multiple computer software programs and the internet.
  • Minimum of 45-50 words per minute typing skills.
  • Demonstrated a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively communicate the same message to different audiences (people of different learning/understanding levels).
  • Demonstrated ability to accurately document a recap of each situation which allows the reader to have a vision of the situation at hand.
  • Personable and Professional attitude.

Preferred Requirements:

  • Strong understanding of all contracts administered by Portfolio.
  • Previous claims administration experience.
  • Familiarity with Mitchells and Alldata
  • Ability to listen and identify customer needs and concerns.
  • Previous experience in the automotive industry/ service department

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Vision acuity required to include close vision, color vision, distant vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to grasp objects such a telephone or computer mouse, finger dexterity to use a keyboard, calculator, and standard office equipment
  • Ability to walk, stand, reach with hands and arms; stoop kneel, crouch, and lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Ability to frequently sit for long periods of time.
  • Ability to hear and talk, both in person and by phone.
  • Ability to spend extended hours in front of a computer screen
