Position Overview
The primary function of this position is to provide direction and leadership to the Industrial Minerals manufacturing and maintenance departments ensuring our customer demands are met or exceeded by ensuring cost effective and operationally sound manufacturing of our products.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
- Responsible for own personal safety at all times, as well as maintaining the highest standard of safety and quality in all aspects of the job. Be familiar with and follow the CRH Life Saving Rules
- Promotes a safe and productive working environment with a sustainable safety culture.
- Implement and lead continuous improvement and modern manufacturing principals by highlighting deficiencies and recommending changes in training, working practices and processes.
- Developing direct reports technical and leadership skills and make recommendations for new job opportunities when appropriate.
- Track staffing requirements and act as the hiring manager for needed personnel.
- Works with direct reports to establish development plans, provides training, and development opportunities.
- Help promote a company culture that has high morale and job performance through motivation, establishing goals and providing feedback.
- Effectively using delegation, scheduling, and time management practices to get work done through others.
- Reviews Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for operations to understand progress and to continually align operational teams in terms of their areas of opportunity and improvement.
- Direct maintenance and production activities through Managers, Supervisors, and Leads to drive continuous improvement, and optimize use of resources, equipment, facilities, and personnel.
- Review and analyze expenditures, financial and operational reports to identify opportunities to increase profits and improve performance metrics.
- Work closely with GM and management team to set and implement policies and procedures.
- Assists in budget and capex processes including forecasting.
- Address employee issues and provide resolutions in a timely manner.
- Support communication between associates and the management team.
- Provide support on specific technical processing, maintenance, and engineering issues where appropriate.
- Ensure strong alignment across maintenance and operations teams.
- Performs other job-related duties as needed.
Required Minimum Qualifications
- Strong leadership and management skills. Individual must exhibit professional ability to deal with others and to create constructive working relationships and an overall positive working environment.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to work well under tight deadlines, assist in the resolution of technical problems, and manage ambiguous information effectively.
- Self-starter and able to take responsibly and initiative upon themselves.
- Ability to prioritize, schedule, and coordinate multiple activities
