Chief Estimator - Industrial

Position Purpose: The Chief Estimator is responsible for leading all estimating efforts and preparing cost estimates for Electrical Industrial/Commercial construction projects to aid management in bidding on or determining price. The Chief Estimator will strategically support and grow their estimating team to support IPC division objectives.

Essential Responsibilities

§  Leads and manages the estimating team consisting of estimators and senior estimators.

§  Reviews proposal, contract terms/conditions, project specifications, drawings, attend pre-bid meetings, etc. to determine scope of work and required contents of the estimate.

§  Assesses cost effectiveness of projects, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops

§  Consults with clients, vendors, personnel in other departments and construction team to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues.

§  Understanding of internal estimating processes and procedures.

§  Confers with engineers, owners, contractors and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. 

§  Reviews and incorporates historical data from past projects, subcontracts, productivity analysis reports, etc. into unit and man-hour figures.

§  Prepares estimates by calculating the complete takeoff of the scope of work.

§  Coordinates total estimating effort relevant to a particular bid/project. 

§  Reviews all final estimate packages with personnel prior to formal quotation, to ensure accuracy and completeness.

§  Participates in bid strategy and presentation meetings.

§  Special projects and other duties as assigned
