Director of Human Resources (HR) is a professional position that is part of the Administrative team and the incumbent serves on Rise’s Senior Leadership Team. Development and stewardship of a strong and diverse staff team and organizational culture is critical to our missional success. The Director of Human Resources reports to Rise’s Executive Director on HR related matters. The role currently supervises no staff and will serve as lead consultant to staff performing HR-related work. 

 

Essential Duties

 

Recruitment and Staffing

  • Ensure that talent acquisition processes and procedures meet organizational needs.
  • Lead the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding processes for all school positions, including teachers, administrators, and support staff.
  • Maintain up-to-date job descriptions and manage the application, interview, and selection process.
  • Lead efforts to build and maintain an inclusive, diverse workforce.

Employee Relations

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for faculty and staff regarding HR-related issues and concerns.
  • Provide guidance and counsel on workplace conflict resolution, performance issues, and employee relations matters.
  • Provide leadership and guidance on complex and confidential HR challenges in ways that safeguard the organization while also upholding equity and honoring staff.

Compensation and Benefits

  • Oversee payroll, compensation analysis, and benefits administration.
  • Partner with the Executive Director to provide health benefits to employees through annual Open Enrollment and year round customer service
  • Administer employee benefits programs (e.g., health insurance, retirement plans, leave policies).
  • Perform compensation analysis to keep salaries and positions reasonably aligned with the market
 

Performance Management

  • Implement and oversee a performance management practice for the organization and provide ongoing support to managers and employees to engage in two-way feedback.
