Assistant Professor - Digital Media Production and Journalism

Description

The Communication Department at Flagler College seeks a dynamic and experienced professor to teach undergraduate courses in digital media production and journalism. The successful candidate will have a strong background in journalism, including multimedia journalism, photojournalism, video production; and video/audio production, with the ability to teach film theory, film studies, and media studies as an asset. Professional experience in journalism and/or media production is preferred.

 Responsibilities:

• Teach a variety of undergraduate courses in digital media production and journalism, including multimedia production, reporting, photojournalism, video shooting/editing, and audio production. The teaching load is a 4-4. Summer teaching is often available, based on student and department needs.
• Develop and update course curricula to reflect current industry trends and best practices.
• Mentor and advise students on academic, career, and professional development matters.
• Participate in departmental and college committees, meetings and events as needed.E
• Engage in scholarly research and creative activities in the field of digital media production and journalism.

 

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Terminal degree in production, journalism, film, communication, media studies, or a related field, or a master’s degree and significant professional experience in the field.
• Demonstrated expertise in journalism, photojournalism, video/audio production, and/or related fields.

Preferred Qualifications:

•  Experience teaching undergraduate courses in digital media production, journalism, and/or related fields.
•  Ability to teach courses in media studies, film studies, film production and film theory.
• A record of scholarly research and/or creative activities in digital media production, journalism, and/or related fields.
