SUMMARY:
The Collateral Specialist I is responsible for securing Georgia’s Own liens, enhancing lien perfection by identifying and correcting controllable errors, and driving continuous improvements to the member experience.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Responsible for facilitating in the completion of title and UCC filing documents.
  • Identify all UCC loans for collateral securitization.
  • File all UCC-1 and UCC-3 forms, track them in the state database, and within our core banking system.
  • Review member paperwork for 100% accuracy before sending to the state for collateral security.
  • Maintain title application information in the core banking system and VinTek Title Tracking System.
  • Release liens for paid off loans within the designated clearing timeframe.
  • Review the Internal Refinance report to ensure the collateral security is not compromised.
  • Maintain all other reporting required to ensure the collateral security is not compromised.
  • Respond to requests for Letters of Guarantee from insurance companies for total loss vehicles.
  • Monitor and process GAP and Extended Warranty claims and cancellations for the credit union.
  • Prepare monthly reports for new GAP and Warranties sold and claims processed.
  • Handle large volume of emails to the collateral inquiries queue from members and employees in regards to title and UCC filing documents, and miscellaneous questions.
  • Participate in all required training and adhere to written policies and procedures of the credit union.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

EDUCATIONAL AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent required, associates degree or recent work experience preferred.
  • Minimum of two years related experience or relevant education.
  • Knowledge of consumer lending required.
  • Ability to understand each states regulations and rules in regards to securing a title.
  • Ability to operate loan processing system, computer, calculator, telephone and other equipment as needed.
  • Stay current on and in compliance with all Credit Union policies, and state and federal regulations in regards to consumer lending.
  • Knowledge of software/computer systems required to complete job duties – Fiserv DNA, Nautilus, Word, Excel etc.
  • Competence with use of the Internet and Credit Union Intranet.

  • Work independently to meet assigned deadlines with little supervision.
  • Work well with other employees, be professional and exercise proper confidentiality with member and other employee’s information.
  • Assist in obtaining the department and organization goals.

  • Offer suggestions to improve the Credit Union’s products and services and general processes to improve efficiency and quality.

  • Maintain confidentiality of members, co-workers and Credit Union records.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, the employee must be able to perform each essential job duty satisfactorily. All employees must be able to communicate face to face or through technology with or without reasonable accommodation. Employee will be in an office environment (well-lighted, heated, and air-conditioned) typically stationed at a desk or table.
