Geosyntec has an exciting opportunity for a Civil Engineering Project Manager to join our geoenvironmental and geotechnical practice at our San Diego, California, office. This position will manage civil grading, infrastructure, solid waste containment and environmental remediation projects from planning and design through construction and closeout. The role is intended for a project manager with a strong civil engineering background who can coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety, and support successful delivery of complex projects for private and public-sector clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Manage civil grading, infrastructure, solid waste containment and environmental remediation projects.
  • Develop and manage project scopes, schedules, budgets, staffing plans, subcontractor coordination, deliverables, and change management activities.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, clients, and regulatory stakeholders to maintain scope, schedule, budget, quality, and safety expectations.
  • Support preparation and review of proposals, work plans, design documents, technical reports, permit-support materials, construction documents, and project correspondence.
  • Track project performance, identify risks, communicate issues and mitigation strategies, and help ensure timely delivery of high-quality work products.
  • Support client relationship management, business development activities, and continued growth of solid waste containment, environmental remediation, and civil infrastructure services.
  • Apply knowledge of local, state, and federal construction-related, solid waste and hazardous waste regulations to support permitting, compliance, and project delivery.
  • Drive personal, company, and rental vehicles to client or company project or office sites, and other business locations, as needed.

Education and Licensure

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering. (required)
  • Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration. (preferred)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. (preferred)

Skills, Experience and Qualifications

  • At least 7 years (8+ years preferred) of related project management experience with solid waste containment, environmental remediation, and/or civil grading and infrastructure projects; or equivalent combination of education and experience. (required)
  • Demonstrated ability to manage scope, schedule, budget, staffing, subcontractors, deliverables, client expectations, and project risk with limited supervision. (required)
  • Experience coordinating multidisciplinary teams and communicating effectively with clients, contractors, regulatory agencies, and internal technical staff. (required)
  • Experience managing solid waste containment, environmental remediation, and civil grading and infrastructure projects. (required)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and review proposals, work plans, technical reports, project correspondence, and client-facing deliverables. (required)
  • Knowledge of project management practices, including planning, budgeting, forecasting, change management, quality management, and health and safety coordination. (required)
  • Experience supporting proposal development, client relationship management, and business development activities. (preferred)
  • Health & Safety training, medical monitoring, and client-driven drug and background testing may be required.
  • Valid U.S. driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record for business travel. (required)
