Job Purpose and Summary:
The Graphic Designer for Circular is responsible for developing layouts and creative concepts for the retail Circular. Candidate must be efficient with Adobe Creative Suite Software including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator and have a solid background in print production. Must have a high aesthetic and understanding of design and typography. Must be well organized and able to communicate ideas with team members. Must be flexible and able to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, synthesize and accept both positive and negative feedback, and manage multiple projects from start to finish. Additional responsibilities include directing in-house photoshoots (if engaged for store brands or seasonal projects), stock photography selection, mentoring junior designers, and developing relationships with internal and external business partners.
Responsibilities
Base Circular Ad Preparation
- Reviews and implements change requests from Advertising Manager, CM, VPMM, Promotional Planning, Pricing and Marketing to ensure their requests, direction and designs are reflected in the ads. This process occurs on a weekly basis 52x per year. This may require 4-12 pages to be built plus gate or wrap. Responsible for applying appropriate copy, sale price, reg. price, price range, special offer, product images, coupon, limits, FSI, legal copy, disclaimers, expiration dates, etc. Assists advertising manager with troubleshooting discrepancies found when proofing the Ad against consolidated reports and grids to ensure ad blocks and pages are built accurately.
Planogram Image Production Responsibilities
-Photograph individual UPC for each item, photograph each item, record measurements of items in Excel including height, width, depth, SKU number and description of product. Transfer finished photo to Image tool. Identify image by category and place in category manager’s file. Images are to be photoshopped and resized. Final prep images for Ad placement.
Develops creative assets for a variety of marketing collateral and digital content from design concept to finished form including but not limited to videos, social media, coupons, in-store signage including digital message boards, and seasonal signage.
Required Qualifications
1+ years advanced experience with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Teams)
Strong design skills
Superior knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite application:
- InDesign
- Illustrator
- Photo Shop
Basic layout, typography, and page formatting skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills
Ability to work independently and to navigate through ambiguous situations that may arise
Strong interpersonal skills as demonstrated by successful collaboration to achieve shared goals
Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment
Ability and willingness to work collaboratively
Willingness to work beyond 9-5 when necessary
Type formatting skills in InDesign tab character styles, paragraph, character styles numbering and find and replace
Prepress/printing familiarity
Color correction of files within InDesign
Photoshop, clipping capabilities. Drawing with pen tool in Photoshop.
Ability to plan, coordinate and set priorities on several projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines
Excellent design sense and organization skills
High School diploma or GED
Regular and reliable attendance
Availability for occasional event photoshoot
Preferred Qualifications
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to present work confidently to business partners
Associates or Bachelor’s degree in graphic design
Bilingual (English and Spanish) preferred
