EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION

Required

  • Education
    Bachelor's Degree in Science. 
     
  • Experience
    5 years of experience working as a histotechnologist or cytotechnologist. 
    3 years of supervisory/managerial experience in Anatomic Pathology. 
     
  • Licenses and Certifications
    (HTL) HISTOTECHNOLOGIST (ASCP) or 
    (ASCP-CT) ASCP-CYTOLOGIST (CT) (ASCP) or 
    (MT) MEDICAL TECHNOLOGIST (ASCP) 
     

Preferred

  • Education
    Master's Degree in Health Administration, Business or Public Health. 
     


JOB DUTIES

  • Demonstrate continuous performance improvement in targeted areas of responsibility in alignment with the overall annual Hospital performance improvement targets.
  • Meets or exceeds financial goals and objectives of the department.
  • Works with the Laboratory Director to develop an annual departmental strategic plan that incorporates University of Texas Southwestern-University Hospitals (UTSW-UH) and Clinical Laboratory Services (CLS) goals. Responsible for helping to develop and implement the work plan associated with the strategic goals for Anatomic Pathology services and Reference Testing operations. Assists and coaches laboratory managers and supervisors in management of resources and work processes. Uses the techniques of process improvement to define and enhance work processes. Applies quality, efficiency and access metrics to define project staffing needs. Works with the Director to organize/budget resources (people, equipment, materials) for delivery of effective patient care. Reviews department goals and arranges work to accomplish goals. Develops short range targets as indicators toward reaching goals.
  • Accountable for the laboratory maintaining accreditation with College of American Pathologists (CAP), Centers for Medicare, The Joint Commission (TJC), and Medicaid Services (CMS), licensing for Clinical Laboratory Improvement Amendments (CLIA). Also ensures laboratory is compliant with Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. Assists in the reviewing of operational indicators and financial reports to ensure progress toward achieving goals. Ensures compliance with UTSW-UH, CLS and Human Resources policies as well as with
