Reporting to the Controller, performing various accounting functions, ensuring internal controls, controls, and supporting accounting and reporting system activities such as payroll, accounts payable processing, accurate financial transaction posting, and financial report and statement preparation. Manages bank balances, treasury functions, taxes, and information to meet organizational needs. Performs all work within established Hammond Power Solutions, Micron, and US GAAP guidelines. Active participant in process improvement initiatives. The position is located in our Sterling, IL, location.
Key Responsibilities Include:
- Ownership of the general ledger, including journal entries and reporting.
- Accounts payable responsibilities include comparing vendor invoices to received items, preparing and monitoring weekly vendor payments, and reconciling aging reports monthly.
- Responsible for hands-on accounting, including monthly close, commission processing, and financial reporting; account analyses and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Work closely with the manufacturing team to record and analyze the cost of goods sold, including annual cost roll.
- Annual physical inventory preparation, participation, and evaluation.
- Monitor capital expenditure spending and maintain a fixed asset list.
- Communicates and follows up with internal departments to resolve issues.
- Prepare financial and regulatory reports as directed.
- Assist in external audits.
- Evaluate financial reporting systems and accounting procedures and recommend changes to procedures, operating systems, budgets, and other financial control functions.
- Coordinates the periodic upload and download of batches, reports, invoices, and payment forms.
- Provide customer service and support to internal departments and third-party business partners regarding accounting matters, as required.
- Occasionally provide direction to other Finance team members and assist in streamlining existing processes where the position may not have primary ownership.
- Assist in the annual financial plan and quarterly forecasts.
- Capable of designing standard and complex ad hoc reports to support senior management.
- Other duties as assigned.
Do you qualify? We are seeking:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or relevant experience
- Minimum of 5 years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong knowledge of GAAP principles and financial reporting requirements
- Experience with accounting software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Detailed-oriented with a focus on accuracy and integrity in financial reporting
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to drive process improvements
Salary Range ($65K to$75K) The salary for this role is dependent on geographic location. The salary offered within the range described will be based on individual candidates’ job-related knowledge, skills and experience.
