The University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine is seeking Research Assistant Professor, Physiology. This is a full time, 12-month position that is primarily focused on research intensive activities that align with currently funded research goals. The main duties of this position are to conduct high-quality research, publish papers in respected scientific journals, and to obtain support in the form of grants and/or fellowships from extramural sources. This should constitute the bulk of the effort for this position. The individual will have the opportunity to develop independent lines of research as time and resources allow, and it is expected that the individual will seek out and obtain funding to support these projects.
The individual will be expected to contribute to training junior researchers and to fostering a collaborative scientific environment within the department. As a developing scientist, it is also expected that the individual will participate in career development activities and will work with their primary mentor and a group of senior scientists to enhance their professional growth. The individual is expected to take advantage of teaching opportunities as they arise and are appropriate to build a balanced cv. Teaching is not initially expected but could develop over time depending on interests and support. Service activities for this position are not expected to exceed 5% effort and will align with career growth goals.
Required Qualifications
Ph.D. in Physiology, cell biology, or related field
