Job Description:

Manager, Software Projects will report directly to the Vice President of Software and Controls Projects and lead a team of software engineers. The primary responsibility of the Manager will be to organize, track and lead their team in the development of software projects for our clients in the material handling space. Working side-by side-with project management and product development, this role will assist with the entire project lifecycle of software projects within KPI. This spans concept design to functional specification to software delivery and commissioning. The Manager is responsible for managing the day-to-day department activities, setting project objectives, and managing the utilization of software team resources. To be successful as a Manager, Software Projects, this person will need to be an agile, multi-task capable individual, focused on staff development and deadlines while communicating effectively using verbal, written and presentation mediums.

Duties include but are not limited to:

• Monitoring project plans, schedules, work hours, and expenditures
• Organizing and participating in stakeholder meetings, and ensuring that project deadlines are met in a timely manner
• Meeting regularly with direct reports while providing feedback and removing impediments to performance
• Working for continuous improvement on software development methodologies and practices
• Handling customer escalations for assigned projects.
• Taking on special initiatives as directed by VP of Software and Controls Projects
• Track utilization rates for direct reports
• Approving and managing employee PTO
• Preparing and reporting Employee performance reviews
• Organizing, attending, and participating in Client project meetings

• Documenting and following up on important actions and decisions from meetings
• Preparing necessary presentation materials
• Tracking project changes and making necessary personnel adjustments
• Providing administrative support as needed
• Undertaking project tasks as required
• Developing project strategies
• Ensuring projects adhere to frameworks and all documentation is maintained appropriately for each project
• Assess project risks and issues and provide solutions where applicable
• Ensure stakeholder views are managed towards the best solution

Requirements

Skills necessary

• Minimum 6 years’ experience leading software development teams
• Experience managing and leading projects with record of on-time delivery
• Experience leading Agile delivery of software especially Scrum
• Understanding of material handling a plus
• Understanding of the software development lifecycle
