As the lead systems and server administrator ensures the smooth and efficient operation of the College’s IT infrastructure and includes managing Windows-based hardware and operating systems, maintaining network security, leading data center operations and projects, and supporting administrative and student services applications. The role also involves performing other duties as assigned to ensure the department’s smooth functioning and maintain the organization’s reputation as a viable business partner. This position requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of network and server technologies to lead the Data Center operations. The position ensures 24×7 uptime of Data Center services, troubleshoots and diagnoses operating system issues, and takes corrective actions to fix the problems. A logical and systematic approach to problem-solving is essential for the incumbent to effectively understand, analyze, and resolve issues.
Manage Windows-Based Hardware and Operating Systems
Monitor, maintain, and manage the security of the College network
Plan, Lead, Implement, and Manage Data Center Operations and Projects
Manage, maintain, and support Administrative and Student Services Applications
Perform other duties as assigned to ensure the department’s smooth functioning and maintain the organization’s reputation as a viable business partner.
Minimum Qualifications
Five (5) years experience in advanced IT skills that demonstrate increased competencies in project management and network administration; including three (3) years experience in VMWare technologies, including ESX servers, vCenter, vMotion, Hypervisors and virtual servers.
Possess strong architectural design and best practices regarding Windows Active Directory and Group Policy, provisioning and de-provisioning rules
Working knowledge and demonstration of group policy, Domain Controller updates and migrations, AD cleanup, and migrations, managing Windows update maintenance and emergency updates
Five (5) years of demonstrated experience and knowledge in installing and configuring Windows OS in the Server and Desktop environment;
Five (5) years of demonstrated experience and knowledge in the management of Storage Area Networks (SANs);
Preferred Qualification
Five (5) years of demonstrated experience and knowledge in support of VPN-based solutions;
Certification(s) in Microsoft technologies such as Enterprise Administrator and VMWare technologies;
Demonstrated experience in leading projects and/or providing work direction to teams.
Capacity to acquire new skills and adjust to evolving technologies, adeptness in immediate issue resolution, and proficiency in comprehending hardware and software documentation;
Possess good communication and writing skills, problem-solving, troubleshooting, logical thought process, documentation, and organizational/prioritization skills
PowerShell or Python scripting. The creation and upkeep of scripts used for tasks like managing and monitoring systems and automating repetitive activities.
