The ACHE SEP Administrative Intern will participate in a structured 10-week internship designed to expose emerging healthcare leaders to executive leadership, strategic initiatives, and operational management and provide hands-on experience within a nationally recognized comprehensive cancer center.
For Summer 2026, the intern will report to a designated preceptor within Clinical Operations and will work closely with senior leaders across clinical and nursing operations to gain hands-on experience in complex healthcare delivery environments. Additionally, the intern will contribute to a defined project and complete a capstone presentation at the conclusion of the internship.
This role offers a meaningful opportunity for exposure to healthcare operations, change management, and cross-functional collaboration, while supporting real-time operational work that directly impacts patient care delivery. It will provide direct exposure to leadership and offers the chance to understand how large academic health systems translate strategy into operational execution. This internship will follow a project-based model with selective shadowing opportunities as appropriate. Learning Objectives

Schedule: Mon – Fri 8a-5p 10-week internship program
Responsibilities
The intern will support strategic and operational initiatives aligned with organizational priorities.
Responsibilities may include:
- Providing project management and coordination support for a key operational initiative related to staffing standardization
- Assisting with documentation of current-state workflows and operational processes across clinics
- Supporting analysis of staffing models, implementation considerations, and operational improvement opportunities
- Developing executive-ready deliverables, including presentations, summaries, and briefing materials
- Participating in meetings with nursing leadership, clinical operations teams, and administrative partners
- Contributing to a capstone project and final presentation to leadership
Qualifications
Required:
- Current graduate-level student (MHA, MPH, MBA, or another related degree) participating in the American College of Healthcare Executives (ACHE) Summer Enrichment Program (SEP)
- Strong interest in healthcare leadership, hospital administration, healthcare operations, or quality improvement
- Demonstrated analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work collaboratively in a professional healthcare environment

- Prior experience in healthcare or healthcare-related research in operations, quality improvement, or project management
